Aneesh Chaudhry is a Philanthropist, Brain Health Coach, Corporate Wellness Consultant, Professional Speaker, and Producer/Filmmaker. He is the Owner and Founder of SoulPhysio Lifestyle LLC, which is an Integrative Healthcare Network based out of Orange County, CA.
In this episode, we talk all about overcoming fears, how we should really treat what we see on social media, brain health, and how prioritizing our mental and overall health can help us find true joy, contentment, and create the life we’ve always wanted.
Embrace the Fear
“You’ve built the SoulPhysio Lifestyle. Tell us the reason behind what you’ve built? How the format or style has changed since the beginning of your company?”
SoulPhysio started as SoulPhysio Training back in 2013 when Aneesh was in the middle of his undergrad. He started his business just by going to people’s houses, and teaching them private yoga and fitness in the comfort of their own homes. It was more of just a hobby for him then because he was still going to do his Bachelors in Neuropsychology, as inspired by his own personal struggles dealing with a few mental illnesses throughout his younger years. Aneesh experienced anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, substance abuse and had different doctors and therapists telling him different things. All these lead him to become curious about studying the brain and dedicating his life studying the brain.
From just teaching people fitness in their homes and various gyms around their town, he grew his business until it became a full integrated health care network. At the age of 27, Aneesh already had two clinics and a full medical staff working under him.
“At present, there are so many ways to take in information that it already gets confusing. Some people look for mentors, accountability buddies, masterminds, online courses—there’s obviously a lot of ways to learn. Who are you currently learning from and how did you find them?”
One of Aneesh’s current mentors that he just recently started working with is Mr. Greg Reid. They met through Greg’s event, the Secret Knock and Aneesh is currently a member of his Secret Knock society, the mastermind group Greg is currently building. In a couple of weeks, Greg is also doing another mastermind, Wake Up and Crush it, which Aneesh will also be attending.
“What drew you to Greg when you found him?”
Aneesh says that a lot of it has to do with Greg’s charisma, passion, and enthusiasm. Aneesh sees Greg as the modern day Napoleon Hill. Because Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow Rich has really resonated with Aneesh on a deep level, he makes sure to truly practice what he learned from the book. He also surrounds himself with other people who are practicing it like Greg—people who have reaped the results from this practice and are still continuing to reap the results on a daily basis.
“How have masterminds helped you when you are looking to execute a new idea?”
Aneesh thinks that what holds so many of us back including himself is fear. When people experience fear, they usually use it as a reason to not do something because the fear can be so overwhelming. But what he learned from his mentor, Greg, and a lot of other people from his circle is that fear is just an invitation to learn, to grow, and to really tackle something head on. Today, when Aneesh experiences fear, he asks himself, “Why am I experiencing that?” This allows him to learn more about the fear he’s experiencing and put together a plan to overcome it.
“What does that plan look like? How do you map that out and say these are the steps that I’m going to do to get through this fear and overcome it?”
For Aneesh, the biggest thing to do to start overcoming fear is get to a point where you acknowledge it and already have a basic awareness of what it is. Talk to somebody about it because verbalizing it can help dehumanize that fear. Talking about your fears also helps you have more awareness about the underlying causes of that fear. Then, once you’re able to identify these underlying causes, you will then be able to address the real cause of that fear.
Aneesh as a Mastermind
“When people look to invest in their future, they usually have a better than vague idea of what they’re going to get. They have some sort of expectation from the type of people they’re going to surround themselves with, and what the outcome is supposed to be. What should people expect when they enter Aneesh’s reality?”
When people step into Aneesh’s reality, they should realize that when he says something, that means he’s really going to do it. For him, words and communication are very valuable currencies. They’re an even bigger type of currency than money, and Aneesh prides himself that these two have opened up a lot of doors for him when it comes to networking and building relationships.
In addition, Aneesh says that when people enter his world, they can expect authenticity. He says that those that he surrounds himself with are truly who they say they are. When you have that level of community and authenticity around you, you can expect to be able to show up as exactly who you are, even on your bad days. In Aneesh’s world, people take care of themselves first, and then reap the results as a benefit of that.
“Let’s talk about people that you have mentored. Has anyone that you have mentored surprised you with what they have accomplished and what was the outcome they’ve accomplished from being a part of your programs?”
Aneesh’s designed his programs to make them in such a way that they will lay out the road map for you, but it will be up to you to do the work. In addition, Aneesh shares that biggest thing that people usually take away from working with them is that they become dedicated to a new overall healthy lifestyle, the SoulPhysio Lifestyle, as they call it.
Aneesh and his team help the people who attend their programs to rebuild themselves—not based on who Aneesh tells them to be, but based on who they really want to be. For Aneesh, when you give people that level of empowerment, it makes them think of their ideal self. This then makes it easier to do reverse engineering and put together a roadmap of what they need to do to help them actually become that person.
Aneesh adds that they help this person grow from a place of happiness, peace, contentment, and true joy. The difference between happiness and true joy is that happiness, from a society’s perspective, is based upon a certain destination. However, joy and contentment stem from where you are at this present moment and being at peace with where you are now.
What It Takes To Create Success
“Let’s talk about success and what it takes to be successful. There’s mentorship, willingness to fail, experimentation, partnerships, and ‘willingness to succeed.’ With the sensitivity of social media, I feel we’re actually afraid to be successful and talk about it. What do you think it takes for people to get over their fear of being successful?”
Aneesh shares that he is not a huge fan of social media because you can see a lot of people who pretend to be experts in their field and keeps on flashing all material things. When other people see this, it may make them think that success is all about flashy cars, attractive women, mansions, and travelling overseas. But that’s just a façade, Aneesh says. For him, we can’t base what success is on what we see on social media because we have different goals. That means success is going to look different for different people.
Aneesh also adds that true success stems from within. There can be people that have a billion dollars and still not be successful. He thinks “willingness to succeed” begins with accepting who you are as a person. After that, be willing to give yourself a chance at pursuing your dreams and not just living your life by other people’s standards.
“If you would ask yourself 10 years ago what success is, would it be the same thing as you see it today?”
Aneesh says that it definitely wouldn’t be the same because 10 years ago, he was 17 years old but he was already depressed, suicidal, and smoking pot every day. In his mind, he was questioning his reason to live.
Fortunately, as time progressed, he started working toward something. He began to have a goal, he says. Aneesh says that he envisioned that when he’s 40, he would already have his own wellness clinic. However, he was already able to achieve this goal when he’s just 27. And according to Aneesh, that goes to show that by setting an intention, we can work more towards it.
By putting himself and his clients first, he knew that money will start to come in as a result of wanting to do good, in contrast to just pursuing something to get more money. For Aneesh, money can either be used for creation or destruction of things. Today, he truly uses it to create joy and happiness, and to educate other people, as well.
“There are always new ideas brewing in times of prosperity but I really think innovation and ingenuity comes when we feel the squeeze. Right now with the pandemic, I feel everyone is feeling the squeeze. What are you working on right now that’s going to take place over the next 12 months that really excites you?”
At present, Aneesh is very excited about his non-profit organization, the SoulPhysio Foundation. They have just recently launched and started fund raising for it. The SoulPhysio Foundation aims to help children with mental and neurological disorders by helping fund their treatment and create programs for their educational system. These programs include educating not just the children, but also their parents and teachers who Aneesh and his team will help to know how to best help the children.
Overall, SoulPhysio Foundation will be working on all about brain health and teaching people how to build a healthier brain in order to create and manifest the life that they’ve always wanted. They will be accomplishing this through the help of some practical tools like yoga, meditation, exercise, and a lot of other things that we already know are good for us.
“Give us a tip, a trick, or a mental exercise that you’ve learned that you think if listeners implemented, can help them move forward.”
“Learning to control the breath.” When we think about all of the things we can control in the world, there’s only one thing that we have complete control over, our breath. When we tune in to our breath, it let’s us know our state of being. Because when we get stressed out, we notice our breath gets shallow, our heart pounds, our palms get sweaty—these are signs of stress. When people get to this state, they usually don’t know how to get out of it. But the truth is, you can get out of this state through deep breathing and practicing mindfulness.
Lastly, according to Aneesh, one thing you can take away from everything—all the higher level concepts—that he said is that all of those stems from controlling the breath through meditation and mindfulness. So just give yourself five minutes a day in a quiet room, sitting in a comfortable position, close your eyes and just allow yourself to breath. Notice where you’re at and what your mind is going to tell you. After that, just take another five minutes to jot down what you’ve experienced. Just let loose. It’s going to be a nice experience and escape from all the hustles and bustles of daily life—that’s the major takeaway!
