Hey, everyone. I’m Frederick Douglas Bussey, and I am hijacking this solo episode of the mastermind effect. I can’t wait to get into it. We’re going to talk today about how you can get out of your own way and how you can level up to success, and what success really means.
THE SEVEN FIGURE CIRCLE
First of all, I want to let you know that I am launching a new mastermind for my group, the Seven Figure Circle coming up in January. It’s going to be a great opportunity for six-figure entrepreneurs who want to level up to seven figures and beyond.
But beyond the amount of money that you can make is about the impact that you can create with your business, your organization. And I hope that you will be one of those people that are about creating big things and doing big things in the world.
We want people who want to have a big vision, have a big heart, and really want to lead out in a way that they have never seen done before in their industry. So that sounds like you reach out to me at fredrickbussey.com and email@example.com. Send me an email, or reach out to me on Facebook, because I hang out there. Send me a message and let’s chat and see if you are really a good fit for the program that we’re up to starting in January.
All right, let’s get into it.
THREE LAWS OF GIFTEDNESS
So today, I want to talk to you a little bit about what it means to be successful. You know, we’ve got so many different ideas of what that is, right? We hear about success and what it means to be successful—“to make a lot of money or to have a life of your dreams.” We see those highlight reels that so many people share on social media. And what a lot of us are doing is comparing ourselves to those things that we see around us.
We’re comparing ourselves to this idea of who we think we should be or who we think other people think we should be. The reality of the matter is that to be successful is not a competition about against anyone else, but yourself. In other words, it’s not even competition per se. To me, the idea of being successful is about being able to master your gift, to master your superpower, to be able to take this core thing that you can do that no one else can do to impact the world in a way that no one else can do it. And to get better and better and better at it every single day, to the point where you will never die regretting having not taken the steps that you need to take to become who you were meant to be.
You don’t need anyone’s permission to do this. But if you chase that dream, that goal that aspiration every single day, with passion with heart with consistency, and commitment, there’s no way you can fail.
In my book Breaking Orbit, I talked about the fact that there are three laws of giftedness. Now what is a gift, a gift is your capacity to create the impact in the world that you were designed to create? Everyone is born with a special and unique gift. And yet, many people never really discover what their gift is, their superpower, their ability to impact the world effortlessly and exponentially in a way that people never really learn how to do.
What does that mean for you? Well, that means that a lot of the time that you spend comparing yourself to other people, a lot of the time that you spend worrying about failure or even success, and being able to replicate the success that you’ve had in the past, a lot of those things are based on your concept of unworthiness, of insecurity, of not feeling like you’re enough to be able to fulfill this. So when people are chasing success, often what they are doing is trying to fill a void in themselves. I feel like if I make a certain amount of money, if I build the business of this size, if I am doing enough impressive things and having accolades and accomplishments, that will make me something that I feel like I never was.
Everyone has told me that I’ll never be anything, I’ll never amount to anything. So I need to do these things to accomplish these things to be worthy in their eyes, and to shut them up to shove those voices in your head. But here’s the thing, they don’t know what you’re capable of, because inside of us is a gift that only we have the ability to discover.
We were each created with that special capacity, that capacity to create an impact in the world that no one else can do. And if you never dive deep, if you never open yourself up and take that look inside to discover what that gift is, then you never get to really walk in that path, to close that gap between who you are now and who you’re created to be.
Here’s the thing, there’s no ceiling on who we were meant to be. Simply no ceiling, so you don’t have to worry about getting closer or getting further away. It’s a daily journey, a path every day. If you simply wake up and worry about what can I do today to walk in my. And you understand what your gift is, and you simply show up in that gift, you’re never going to be unsuccessful. It’s not possible.
I talked a little ago about what the three laws of giftedness, I want to share those with you quickly because to me, those things have started to frame and impact my life in a powerful way. And I feel like it can really help you as you take your next journey. So what are those three laws?
The first law is that everyone is created with a gift.
Think of it this way. So many of us have taken the idea that it’s the concept that some people are special, and some people are not right. If you look at LeBron James, clearly he was built with a body and the ability to play basketball at a high level. Now, if you’re not 69, to 90, and are 260. And fast as a deer can jump out of the gym, then you’re probably not gifted for that ability that you don’t have that talent to be a NBA basketball player. It doesn’t mean you can’t work hard, but what will you craft it for to be the best in the world.
Here’s the thing I want you to grasp. Everyone has their superpower, everyone is a LeBron James inside of their own way. And you have to discover what that is about you so you can be the greatest possible version of yourself. Everyone is created with special unique gift.
Now the second law of giftedness says that every gift has a purpose.
And so many of us go through our lives trying to find a purpose or create a purpose. But if you think about a car, or a doorknob, or a hammer, or a nail, they’re all inanimate objects that were created with a special purpose. A nail bonds things together, a hammer drives that nail down a doorstop holds the door open. If inanimate objects have a purpose in this world, what makes you think that a human being doesn’t? Why would you think that? Well, that’s because we’re not taught to discover what our purpose is. And our purpose lies within our gift, we were created and designed a certain way to create a certain impact. And that impact is meant to deal with a certain purpose in this world, there are certain problems and gaps that exist that only we can fill that only we can solve.
And if you are not walking in your purpose, then those gaps go unfilled in the world. So where is it that you need to show up? Where do we need you to be with your gift to fulfill your purpose in your life, discovering that will be life changing for you as well.
Now, here’s the third law of giftedness. And it’s my favorite, it’s my favorite. And you’ll soon see why because the third law of giftedness says that no gift can fail at the purpose for which it was created.
What does that mean? That means you can’t fail. See, birds always fly, water always flows, wind always blows, and the sun always shines. Everything that was created in nature, always fulfills the function, the purpose for which it was created.
So if the wind the sun, birds, animate objects can all fulfill their purpose, you cannot fail at fulfilling a purpose for which you are created, you cannot fail. So remove that out of your vocabulary. Failure is simply the process of walking forward, showing up every day, you have a gift, you have a purpose, and your purpose will not fail.
So I hope this is helpful for you today, as you think about what it means to be successful, and how you can get out of your own way. You don’t have to worry about what you were created to do or chasing your purpose. Because you have one or two purposes inside you. Your identity is your gift and your gift is inside you and your power, the power to create that impact was there from the very day you were born.
If you ever doubted your ability to be impactful and powerful in this world, I want to let you know that you have a purpose that you have a gift and your gift cannot fail.
